My Story
I am Horace J. Staples. I was born in Springfield, Illinois, the oldest of seven brothers and sisters. I attended Saint Teresa and Saint Thomas schools in Decatur, Illinois, and then our family moved to Lake City, Illinois.
I am a Lt. with the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department, currently assigned as the Director of Emergency Management. I have been with the department since 1995. I have served in various capacities such as the Assistant Commander of the Kenosha Sheriff’s Tactical Response Team (SWAT), Public Information Officer and Commander of the drug unit known as Kenosha Drug Operations Group.
My wife and I met at Lakeland University. We have been married for years and have two adult children Jeff and Adriana, and a son, Logan, who headed off to college in the fall of 2019.
I have served on various boards in Kenosha such as The Spanish Center, Credit Union, Saint Joseph Catholic Academy, and Saint Mark Past-President of the Parish Pastoral Council. I also am an adjunct professor at Gateway Technical College. My most recent accomplishment was attaining my Master’s Degree after almost two years of hard work.
